The Sapphire Rocking Cell is a laboratory instrument to research and test low-dosage hydrate inhibitors (LDHI), corrosion inhibitors (KI), anti-agglomerates (AA) and kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHI) and also multi-phases. The full view polished test cells are made of sapphire glass.The sapphire test cells are completely transparent.

The sapphire Rocking cell is available in three designs.

The Rocking Cell RCS2 with upto 2 test cells.

The Rocking Cell RCS6 with up to 6 test cells are models for small spacing, e.g to be placed in a fume hood.

 

The Rocking cell RCS 20 is a stand alone rig installation with up to 20 test cells.

      Rocking Cell System RC5-Automated hydrate test system for inhibitor screening and compatibility testing.The Rocking Cell uses one of the most stringent condition of the currentlyaccepted methods for research on hydrate inhibitors and influence of corrosion inhibitors. The measuring principleof the rocking cell is based on the steady tilting of cooled, pressurised test cells (rocking cells).

      While tilting, a ball inside the camber is steadily rolling over the length of the test chamber, thereby blending the fluid-gas mixture.
      The movement of the ball creates strong shear forces and turbulences in the test chamber. Thus, the conditions in pipelines are reproduced. 

      For testing the test chambers are filled with a sample fluid (water or other) and a certain amount of inhibitor. The test chambers are cooled down to a given test temperature. Subsequently, the central gas supply is used, to fill each chamber to the individually required pressure of up to 200 bar (2,900 psi).The 5 test chambers are mounted on a movable axis in a closed cooling bath with cooling liquid. Only this axis is tilted during the test. This offers the advantage, that only the test chambers are moved but not the cooling bath itself. 

      The Rocking Cell is extendable up to 10 test chambers.
      The test chambers are magnetically attached and can thus be easily removed for filling or cleaning.

      The compact Rocking Cell requires only a small amount of space and is equipped with an integrated PC.

VLE measurements at low temperatures can be studied using a stirred equilibrium cell, consisting of a stirred sapphire tubular cell mounted between two Hastelloy C276 or Titanium flanges.This experimental set-up was designed for working temperatures between 200 to 470 K and pressures up to 20 MPa. In this device, known quantities of substances (liquids, liquefied gases, or gases) can be injected into the cell using Top Industrie very accurate metering pumps (PMHP) and gas tanks. For an accurate pressure measurement, three sensors are connected to the cell and heated at constant temperature. The temperature is measured directly in the cell using Pt100.

It offers diverse features in a small space. Pipeline conditions are realistically simulated in the Gas Hydrate Autoclave.The effectiveness of hydrate-inhibitors can be reliably checked aPressure-resistant sapphire-glass windows in the Gas Hydrate Autoclaves allows the use of one or multiple boroscope-camera which enables observing the processes inside the autoclave. Thereby gas hydrate formation can be recorded as photo or video during an experiment. Up to six autoclaves can be operated simultaneously via one PC. 
      The Gas Hydrate Autoclave GHA 350 is equipped with one borescope camera, it is mounted in the autoclaves' head and observes the sample surface from top view and optimized in a pressure range of up to 350 bar /5075 psi. The Gas Hydrate Autoclaves can easily be opened and closed by a specially designed mechanism. An integrated double jacket, temperature and pressure sensor, as well as the integrated stirrer enable a full control of experiments. Even small leakage losses are prevented by double seal sets. Thus, long-run experiments of 30 days or longer are possible. The insulation of the Gas Hydrate Autoclave supports a quick heating and cooling as well as good temperature stability at test conditions.
